Danville, NH: Gary J. Lavallee, 61, a longtime resident of Danville, NH from 1983 to 2015, died on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Maine Medical Center from complications following an accidental and tragic fall this past December.
Born on March 11, 1954 in Lowell, MA, son of the late Leo and Armina (Robillard) Lavallee, he was raised and educated in Tewksbury, MA and graduated from Tewksbury High School with the Class of 1972. Mr. Lavallee served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as a boiler technician on the USS Littlerock stationed in Gaeto, Italy from 1972 until his honorable discharge in 1976 with the rank of Seaman 3rd Class.
Following his service in the Navy, Mr. Lavallee attended ITT Technical Institute in Wilmington, MA. He was most recently employed as a Contract Salesman for Moynihan Lumber in Plaistow for twenty years. He had also been previously employed assisting many local contractors at East Coast Lumber, Harvey Lumber, and Line Lumber.
A member of St. Anne's Parish in Hampstead, Mr. Lavallee served on the Danville Planning Board for several years. He was a past President of the Timberlane Regional High School Wresting Boosters Club, an active member of the Football Boosters Club, and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Hoo-Hoo's. An avid Patriots fan, hunter, and fisherman, Mr. Lavallee enjoyed managing wildlife on his land and had recently completed building his log cabin retirement home in Porter, ME.
He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Mary Rose (Paiva) Lavallee, two sons, Derek J. Lavallee and his wife Terri of Salem, NH, and Todd M. Lavallee of Candia, NH, six grandchildren, a brother, Robert Lavallee of North Windham, ME, a sister, Linda Donahue of Hampstead, NH, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, David Lavallee, and his sister, Jacquelin Lavallee.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Lavallee's Life Celebration on Friday, February 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Anne Church, 26 Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH. Burial will take place at a later date in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
