Gary J. Dorman

Gary Jay Dorman, 61, born on August 22, 1950, in New York, NY, passed away April 25, 2012. He lived in Los Angeles, CA at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and his three daughters, Monica, Rachael and Michelle, and his father, Elliott.

The University of Michigan has always held a special place in Gary's heart. That is where he met Linda and where all three of his daughters earned their undergraduate degrees. He was invited to be a charter member of the Department of Economics alumni advisory board and the Economics Leadership Council, providing advice, support, and encouragement to the Department that he loved and served so enthusiastically.

To honor his memory and continue his legacy of service, the Gary J. Dorman Memorial Endowment has been established in the Department of Economics at the University of Michigan. In lieu of flowers, we request that contributions be sent to The Gary J. Dorman Memorial Endowment. For more information, please call 734-936-1241. The Fund constitutes gifts for endowment, and distributions will be made in accordance with the University's then existing endowment distribution policy. Any surplus distributions from the Fund during any period may be accumulated for later use for the above purpose or may be added to the principal of the Fund at the University's discretion.
