Freda May Staines, 91, born on April 3, 1923, in London, England, passed away January 22, 2015. She resided in Gilbert, AZ at the time of her passing. She had previously lived in Glendale for more than 50 years. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA. Freda was among those who endured Hitler's bombings during WWII, where she worked in a factory manufacturing ammunition for the war effort. Along with her mother and sister, she slept in the subway at night while the bombings raged overhead. She and her husband and daughter came to the United States in the early 1950's, where they became citizens and prospered in the land of opportunity. Freda is survived by her daughter, Ann Shepherd, son-in-law, Frank Shepherd and two granddaughters, Kimberly DeArmond and Rebecca Shepherd.
