Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Franklin Fontanilla, who departed this life on May 17, 2026, in LaCrescenta, California. Born on March 27, 1971, in the serene city of Baguio City, Philippines, Franklin's journey through life was marked by the depth of his love, the strength of his character, and the richness of his spirit.

Franklin's life was one lived fully and fiercely, on his own terms, a testament to the man he was. He left us doing what he loved, a poignant reminder of his passion and dedication. Though the loss feels immeasurable, there is solace in knowing that at the very end, he was exactly where he wished to be—embracing life until his final breath. To those who knew him, Franklin was known simply as Niko, a soul whose presence was as comforting as it was inspiring.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Teresa “Tess,” whose love and partnership were the cornerstones of his happiness. Franklin was a proud and loving father to Troy, Kayla, and Reese, whose lives he enriched with his unwavering support and boundless love. He was an even prouder grandfather to Wade and Rafe, delighting in their joys and milestones. As the son of Ligaya and Francisco, Franklin stood as a beloved pillar in his family, also cherished as a big brother to Francisco Jr. and Ferdinand. Beyond family ties, Franklin's warmth and kindness extended to a broad circle of friends who treasured him dearly.

The services honoring Franklin’s memory will begin with a visitation held at Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills, located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068. The visitation will take place over two days: June 7, 2026, from 11:30AM to 9:00PM and again on June 8, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. His life will then be celebrated with a funeral service on June 9, 2026, at St James The Less, 4625 Dunsmore Avenue, Glendale, CA 91214, beginning at 10:00 AM.

Franklin Fontanilla’s legacy is one of living authentically and loving deeply. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the cherished memories he gifted us, the laughter shared, and the lessons taught by his example. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit endures, a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know him. We find comfort in the profound impact he made and the lasting imprint of his soul—forever Niko, forever loved.
