Frank Jarolim

January 3, 1930 — February 13, 2020

František "Frank" Jarolim, 90, of Palm Desert, California, passed away on February 13, 2020, at
his home surrounded by family. He died peacefully with his characteristic charm and good
cheer intact, but his body had failed due to complications from congestive heart failure.

Frank was born in 1930 in Strakonice, Czechoslovakia (today, the Czech Republic) to Josef and
Anna Jarolim. He was the second oldest of four children (Vaclav, Josef, and Anna), all of whom
currently reside in the Czech Republic. Frank's childhood was interrupted by the Nazi
occupation of Czechoslovakia from 1939-1945 and the Communist takeover after World War II.
Frank fled the Communist regime in 1949 and immigrated to Australia, where he met his
beloved Helena, also a Czechoslovakian emigré, whom he married in 1954. Frank and Helena
moved to California shortly thereafter, along with their eldest child Helen, who currently resides
in Arizona. They had two more children, Susan and Milan, both of whom reside in Southern
California. Frank was a hard worker in the grocery business and was able to retire at a
relatively early age and enjoy the California lifestyle. Up until recently, he played tennis several
times a week, swam, rode his bicycle, and enjoyed his daily soak in the spa. Regardless of the
card game, he was always the best player at the table. He and his beloved Helena truly lived
life to the fullest.

Frank is survived by his loving and beautiful wife of 65 years, Helena (née Jasova), his three
adoring children Helen (Ladislav Pasti), Susan (Thomas L. Marcus), and Milan (Andrea Jarolim),
and three beautiful grandchildren, Amelia, Lukas, and Danielle; and numerous nieces, nephews,
and grand nieces and grand nephews. He is also survived by his two brothers and sister in the
Czech Republic, and their children and grandchildren.

Services will be held on February 28, 2020 at 2:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church,
43775 Deep Canyon Road, Palm Desert, CA 92260
