Frank W. Bunkell

Our beloved father, grandfather and husband, Frank William Bunkell, passed away June 1, at age 90 at home. Born December 29, 1924 in London, Frank served in the Royal Navy before immigrating with his wife, Olive, to Canada with all their belongings in one trunk. In the U.S. he worked for R.R. Donnelly in Illinois, Doubleday Books in Pennsylvania and Times Mirror Press in California before retiring as Chief Engineer. Frank enjoyed woodworking (he designed their home in Pennsylvania), his model train layout and riding his tandem bike with Olive. He was involved with Boy Scouts, serving as leader in England and assisting in the U.S. He was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church for many years serving on various committees.

With Frank, strangers quickly became friends. Frank and Olive's love and devotion for almost 67 years was an inspiration to all they touched. His life was full and enriched by love of God, family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Olive, son, Oliver, daughters: Katherine Myers (Jeff), Christine King (Robert), Anne Coyne (Martin), 9 grandchildren, numerous loving sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews. We will miss him dearly, but celebrate his long, meaningful journey and cherish the love and joy he brought us all.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm on July 11 at St Mark's Episcopal Church in Glendale. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Frank Bunkell Memorial Fund c/o St. Mark's Episcopal Church 1020 N. Brand, Glendale, CA 91202.
