Francisco D. Garcia

Francisco Dela Torre Garcia passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 15, 2025 in Stanton, CA, at the age of 89.

Francisco was born on January 29, 1935 to Apolonio and Fidela Garcia in General Trias, Philippines. He was the second of nine children.

He honorably served in the United Stated Navy for over twenty years. Upon retiring from the Navy, he worked for Southern Pines Hospital in N. Charleston, SC. He also partnered with friends and opened a Filipino-Chinese-American restaurant called SEVEN SEAS in South Carolina. 

He was known for his smiling eyes, endearing personality, endless generosity, gentle sense of humor, and his incredible cooking. His specialties included his famous siopao, lumpia, hot wings and his marinated BBQ (fondly nicknamed “Uncle Frank’s Marinated BBQ”).  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching boxing, walking at the mall with his buddies, singing, dancing, and playing bingo with his wife, Gloria. 

He is preceeded in death by his wife, his parents, and his siblings Valeriano, Adelaida and Cresencio.  He is survived by his children, Rey (Cecile), Elizabeth, and Luzviminda (Derek).  He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew, Mark and Aidan and by his remaining siblings Anita, Gloria, Erlinda, Dawn, and Hadji.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, February 14, 2025 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, CA with immediate family only from 5:00-5:30 PM, then with extended family and friends for prayer and rosary from 5:30-9:00 PM. 

Church Services will be 9:00 AM on February 15, 2025 at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church in Long Beach, CA with graveside interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, CA.
