Francisco Vasquez Cobarrubia

Francisco Vasquez Cobarrubia, 85, born on March 9, 1931, in Cavite City, Philippines, passed away May 11, 2016. He resided in Lakewood, California, at the time of his passing.

Francisco was a dedicated service man. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years and continued in civil service after retirement for another 20 more years.

In retirement, Francisco enjoyed being a carpenter and gardener. He built everything from bench swings to play houses with bridges and furniture. There wasn't anything he couldn't do once he put his mind to it. Francisco tended to his garden daily growing delicious vegetables and nurtured beautiful roses. He was always working on a project. He loved to go out to eat good food and invited friends to join him. Always full of life and a great sense of humor, his smiling face will live with us forever.

Francisco is survived by his loving wife Remedios of over 61 years; daughters Maria Calvin (Lance) and Jocelyn Overeem (John); son Mark Anthony Cobarrubia; grand-daughter Candice Peters (Randy); three great-grand sons, Andrew, Brandon and Nicholas and the family dog, Australian Shepherd Sophie. He also leaves behind four brothers and two sisters, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Francisco was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will truly be missed.
