Kingston, NH: Francine L. Bettencourt, age 66, died November 05, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, following a battle with cancer.
She was born in Lowell, MA, August 25, 1947 to the late Joseph Bettencourt and the late Jeannette (Ducharme) (Bettencourt) Halko and was also the step-daughter of the late Walter Halko. She was a 1965 graduate of Dracut High School and also attended Fitchburg State College and was employed for thirty-eight years at Raytheon Company, Andover as a Statistical Quality Control Analyst.
She resided in Kingston for the last twenty-six years and was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish of Newton and Plaistow. She served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years and also participated in many of the Liturgical Ministries of the Parish.
An avid New England sports fan, she spent many Sunday afternoons cooking in her kitchen while rooting for the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. Francine loved to travel especially to Las Vegas and Alaska to visit family and friends. In the last ten years she had the pleasure of cruising through the Panama Canal, and traveled across country on two different occasions visiting many states and sites. Besides her love of faith, sports and travel, Francine most enjoyed her time spent with her eight year old Papillion "Celine", and the time spent with her eight nieces, two nephews, and seven great nieces and five great nephews.
Francine is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Carol (Hantges) Bettencourt of Las Vegas, NV; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Avril (Hughes) Bettencourt of Groton, MA; a sister Janice Bettencourt of Kingston; a sister and brother-in-law Elaine (Rocheleau) and Valentino Curley of Oahu, HI; and a sister-in-law Elaine (Hebert) Bettencourt of Lowell. She was predeceased by her brothers Wayne R. Bettencourt and William J. Bettencourt.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Newton. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth.
