Plaistow, NH: Frances P. (Danila) Shallow, 83, a resident of the Town of Plaistow for the past forty-three years, died peacefully on Saturday evening, October 10, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Barre, Massachusetts and raised and educated in the Town of Athol, she was the daughter of the late William and Sophie (Glebauskas) Danila. She furthered her education at nursing school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
As a young woman, Mrs. Shallow worked as a waitress and a Veterinary Assistant and later operated Pride and Groom Pet Shop in Exeter. From 1973 until 2003, Mrs. Shallow co-owned and operated Plaistow Taxi with her late husband and also operated Jordan's Car Wash in Plaistow from 1986 until 1995.
She was a longtime member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish and the former Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow as well as the Plaistow Lionesses Club, where she served as its first President and as a former District Governor.
Mrs. Shallow enjoyed cooking, especially for her large extended family, reading, gardening, crocheting and caring for her animal friends. She also traveled extensively across the United States, Europe and Asia. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends, Virginia Hebb and Betty Sawyer.
The wife of the late Thomas A. Shallow, who died in 2001, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son Christopher J. Shallow and his wife Cindy of Gulf Port, Florida, a daughter-in-law Starr L. Shallow of Hampstead, nine grandchildren, Kathleen, Kevin, Katherine, Scott, Alison, Jordan, Benjamin, Suzanne and Thomas, and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas A. Shallow II, in 2014, and daughters, Patricia A. Brown in 2015 and Joanne Shallow in 2001.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. in Holy Angels Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, Plaistow, followed by burial in Holy Angels Cemetery.
