Fortman Yan, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and cherished brother, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, surrounded by his family in Chino, CA. Born on May 6, 1946 in Valencia, Negros Or., Philippines, Fortman's journey through life was marked by his generous spirit and boundless laughter, which brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
With an impressive career spanning over 30 years at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Fortman retired in 2011, leaving a legacy of dedication and hard work. His professional accomplishments were accompanied by an equally fulfilling personal life. He was a proud graduate of Silliman University High School and later earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cebu Institute of Technology, reinforcing his commitment to education and growth.
Fortman was not only a man of career achievements; he was a jolly soul whose vibrant personality made everyone around him feel warm and welcome. He had an infectious laugh that could fill a room, often laughing so hard that he would struggle to breathe or turn blue in the face. His ability to spread joy was a gift he cherished and shared generously with family and friends alike.
His hobbies reflected the same spirit of creativity and joy that defined his life—he loved to build model planes and trains and took great pleasure in planting, reveling in the beauty of nature and craftsmanship.
Fortman is survived by his beloved siblings: Areopaquita Yan, Jean Yan, Williamton Yan Jr., Cecile Yan, Auspicio Yan Sr., and Samson Yan, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. His legacy lives on through his daughter, Robbin Yan-Singzon, and son-in-law, Ryan Singzon. He was also the cherished grandfather of three grandsons: Raphael, Roman, and Royce Singzon, who will always remember the twinkle in his eye and the laughter they shared.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Pilar Sy Yan, his father, Williamton Yan Sr., and his devoted wife, Romana Unto Yan. Their memory lives on in the stories and love that Fortman shared with his family.
