Floris Bills Walter

Floris Bills Walter of Palm Desert, Calif. passed away in Palm Desert, Calif. on July 21, 2016. She was born June 27, 1921 to Hazel and Barton Bills in Perry, Iowa. She went through school in Perry, Iowa. She attended college in Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1941 she married Dale Walter. They worked for the Federal Government in Washington D.C. until 1942 when Dale went into the Army Air Corps of Morrison Field, W. Palm Beach, Florida. Their son, Larry Dale was born in W. Palm Beach. Dale was discharged from the army in 1945 and they moved to Santa Maria, Calif. they started Walter's Interiors and owned this business until 1978. She was active in the Methodist Church, Minerva Women's club and other community groups. In 1987 they moved to Palm Desert Greens Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif. She was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Methodist Church in Indio, Calif.; P.E.O Women's Organization and Coachella Valley Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale in 2003; she is survived by her son Larry Dale Walter of Sausalito, Calif.; grandson, Dr. Christopher Walter and wife Emily of Fortuna, Calif.; Great-grand-daughter, Maya and Great grandson Asher Walter of Fortuna, Calif.; Carleen Cady of Kelseyville, Calif. and several nieces and nephews. Her sister Roberta Hillenga predeceased her. Burial will be at Desert Memorial Park; 31-705 Da Vall Drive, Cathedral City, Ca. on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at 11:30 am. Memorial Service will follow at the Shepherd of the Valley Methodist Church, 45-501 Deglet Noor St., Indio, Ca. Forest Lawn Mortuary will be in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 311 S. Broadway Santa Maria, Ca. 93454.
