Florentina Rebosis Gimena

Florentina Gimena, 92, of Los Angeles CA, passed away in her sleep on January 4th, 2019 in her home.

She was born on November 28th, 1926 in Cadiz, Negros Occidental, Philippines, daughter of the late Januario and Eufemia Rebosis. She was one of seven siblings Consuelo, Remdious, Emiterio, Severino, Wilfredo and Nenita. Florentina graduated St. Luke's Hospital of Nursing on March 28th 1950.

Florentina married the late Esteban Gimena on December 2nd, 1950 and 4 children, Evelyn, Randolph, Gwendolyn and Jocelyn, were born from this union. She work as an exchange nurse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for 2 years before officially immigrating to the United States. In June of 1969, she immigrated with her two youngest daughters Gwendolyn and Jocelyn to Los Angeles, CA. Two months later her husband, Esteban, and her two eldest, Evelyn and Randolph, joined the family in the States.

Florentina worked as an operating room nurse for Kaiser Permanente for 20 years. She dedicated her career to helping those in need. She loved to cook, dance and travel in her spare time. The things that she loved, she loved to do with her family. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Forever in our hearts known as "Mama".

Mama's beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children, Evelyn, Randolph, Gwendolyn, and Jocelyn; her grandchildren Michelle, Rachel, Daniel, Desirea, Kristopher and Bryan; her great-grandchildren Nathan, Noah, Koji, Isaiah and Jacob; and her future great-great grandchild due in May.

All funeral services will be located at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Dr. Los Angeles CA 90068.

Visitation will be held Monday January 14th, 2019 in Visitation Room E, from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

The Funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday January 15th, 2019 at The Old North Church.
