Florence O. (henry) Gee

Plaistow: Florence O. (Henry) Gee, 99, formerly of Plaistow, Haverhill and Groveland, died Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Prescott House in North Andover.

Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Oliver and Ora (Lalumiere) Henry, she attended local schools and graduated from Haverhill High School.

Mrs. Gee was the manager of the Sears and Roebuck Catalogue Store on Merrimack Street in downtown Haverhill for many years and later the Manager of the Credit Department when the new department store was opened in Haverhill. She later was employed as a telephone operator by New England Telephone and Telegraph retiring after twenty-five years of service.

Mrs. Gee and her late husband Norman lived in Haverhill for several years and enjoyed tending their Victory Garden on two large lots adjacent to their home on Woodmont Avenue.

Following her retirement, she and her husband lived for forty years in their home on Chandler Avenue and Plaistow. She later relocated to Nichols Village in Groveland.

A longtime member of Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow and the Telephone Pioneers of America, Mrs. Gee was also an avid Red Sox fan.

Predeceased by her husband Norman A. Gee and her sister Helen Phinney, she is survived by a sister Arlene Flanders of Silver Spring, Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday morning, June 16, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot, Plaistow, with burial in Holy Angels Cemetery.
