Florante Francisco Baltazar Jr. AKA "Sonny" AKA “Papa Sonny”, 53, born on June 10, 1971, in Manila, Philippines. He passed away on May 27, 2025. He resided in Norwalk, CA at the time of his passing. He was a loving, supportive, and caring husband, son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He is the son of Florante Francisco and Flora Baltazar. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA.
Florante was an extremely charismatic and welcoming person. He was often characterized as being the "life of the party". He was positive, warm and always knew how to put a smile on your face. Sonny's life was filled with love and compassion as evidenced by his many friends and family who were greatly saddened to hear about his passing. He was a bright light who left our world too soon. He left an impression on many people's lives through his hard work, commitment, and unending loyalty to his faith and family.
Sonny is survived by his mother Flora, wife Gloria, son Florenz, daughter Gail; sisters Flor and Maricar; brothers Florante "JonJon", Florante "Jay-R", Florante "Tito"; in-laws Filemon, Roma, Janice, Charina; nieces; Carlyn, Clarisse, and Pauline; nephews Carl Jayson, Carl Joseph, Juan Carlos, Jhon Benedict, Jhon Cedric, Jhon Dominic, Robin, and Lucas; grandniece Ellie.
Sonny was a police officer back in the Philippines and moved to America in 2003 after 7 years of service. In America, Sonny explored multiple fields of work ranging from security and transportation. He then went to work as Bus Operator for LA Metro starting in 2011. Sonny was an extremely hard worker and would often work overtime to provide for his family. When he wasn't at work, he would often keep himself busy by working on his cars and doing construction projects on the house and garage.
Sonny was a simple man and found pleasure in spending time with his friends and family. He loved being surrounded by people. He also enjoyed relaxing at his home and watching action movies. He thoroughly enjoyed movies and shows involving superheroes, cars, and sentient robots. Sonny was also very fond of music. He would often be found with his portable speakers, enjoying his music while eating or spending time with family. Sonny found great comfort in Catholicism. He was a religious man who regularly went to church and prayed every day to show his devotion to God.
A memorial and celebration of Sonny's life will be conducted on Monday, June 16th, 2025 between 5-9PM at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cypress, CA. Food and refreshment to be provided by the family. The funeral service and burial is scheduled on the following day on Tuesday, June17th, 2025 at Holy Family Artesia starting at 9:30 AM
