A VERY SPECIAL LADY...

Filomena Bustos Gomez was born on November 3, 1928, to her parents, Juan Bustos Gutierrez and Maria Guadalupe Gomez Villalobos. Though her father died before she was two years old, as the oldest child, she became a "little mom" to her five "Plazola Gomez" half-brothers (Ernesto, Roberto, Abel, Manuel, Enrique) and half-sister (Consuelo) and they loved each other dearly.

Filomena grew in faith and love for God and was very active in her church throughout her youth and adulthood.

In Guadalajara, she met her future husband at the bank where she worked. He was living and working in Los Angeles, so he soon brought her and their son, Atenogenes Bustos Rojas, to California. Though she'd enjoyed being a single working woman, she embraced motherhood and doted on her son and six daughters (the Marias) as well as the 19 grandchildren that were added to the family tree.

The Marias are, in birth order:
Maria Teresa Greene
Maria Concepcion Rojas
Maria Lourdes Bloom
Maria Refugio McAfee
(Maria del) Carmen Hart :-)
Maria Soledad Gutierrez

Daughter/sons-in-law are: Katherine Rojas, Tom Greene, Phil Bloom, Scott McAfee, Gary Hart and Humberto Gutierrez

Grandchildren, by family:

Atenogenes Santos, Matthew, Joseph & Erienne Rojas

Five Greene boys - Joshua, Justin, John, Joseph & Jacob

Rachel & Rebecca Bloom

Nicolas, Aaron, Carmen & Julia McAfee

Lauren & Eric Hart

Natalie & Andrew Gutierrez

Much more can and will be said about her, but there are many people throughout the San Gabriel Valley and beyond (e.g., Upland, Riverside) who were touched by her warmth and generosity and will miss her sweet smile. She was truly a blessing to her family, friends and her community...
