FILADELFO TAN TORRES, affectionately known as Fil or Peng, was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Fil passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024, at the age of 72, surrounded by his devoted wife and children.
Fil was born to Consalacion Tan Torres and Eller Dula Torres on November 6, 1951 in San Jose, San Simon, Pampanga, Philippines. He married Maria Fe on January 17, 1973, in Pampanga, Philippines, and their fifty-one beautiful years together until his passing were filled with love and joy. Together, they raised four children: Fritzie Marie, Faye, Elleranne, and Patrick James, and were blessed with two adoring grandchildren Kaley Andrea and Owen Riley.
Growing up in Pampanga, Philippines, Fil shared his childhood with his siblings. He attended San Vicente Elementary School in Apalit, Pampanga, and later pursued his education at Don Bosco High School in San Fernando, Pampanga, before completing his high school education at St. Louis University in Baguio City. Despite enjoying outings with his siblings and friends, Fil always prioritized school and his studies. He also assisted his father in managing and attending their family business ventures.
Fil's academic journey led him to De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce in 1972, earning the distinction of Cum Laude. He excelled academically, ranking fourth in a class of sixty-four. He embarked on his successful career as a CPA in the Philippines before relocating to Los Angeles, California, in 1975. In Los Angeles, he worked tirelessly to support his family back in the Philippines, ensuring their smooth transition to life in America. His wife and three daughters joined him in 1990, and soon after, they welcomed their youngest child, Patrick James.
Throughout his career, Fil exhibited dedication and professionalism, working for various companies as an accountant before joining Complete Clothing Company Inc., where he would spend the majority of his career. He served as the Chief Financial Officer until his retirement in 2018.
Fil's compassionate nature and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. He expressed his love for his family through selflessness, humor, and affectionate gestures. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home, especially during birthdays and holidays, enjoying his favorite foods and playing games together.
Fil is survived by his wife, four children, and two grandchildren. In his final moments, he bravely fought for his family's happiness. He will forever be cherished and remembered as a devoted, loving, and hardworking man.Wednesday, March 13, 2024
