Felix Joseph Vescio

Felix Joseph Vescio, 87, born on August 28, 1926 in Warren, Pennsylvania, passed away December 13, 2013. He resided in Burbank, California, at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA.
He was the eldest of three children born to Angeline and Joseph Vescio living in Pennsylvania. Felix Vescio was known by all of his relatives and friends as "Bill". As a young man with a determined nature, he obtained his mothers written permission and enlisted in the United States Navy at the ripe old age of 17. The country was in the middle of World War II, and young "Bill" distinguished himself by serving at several U.S. duty stations on the East coast. He was then assigned to the USS LST 1002 (Landing Ship Tank), shortly after the ship was commissioned on 25 June 1944. He was a member of her crew when first assigned to the Europe-Africia-Middle East Theater(convoy HXM 30). Bill was honorably discharged as Seaman Second Class from the Navy on 20 April 1946. His awards include the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, and the European Theater Medal.
Subsequent to the war Bill was employed by the City of Burbank, Dept. of Water and Power for 30 years as a timekeeper. He was active with the Burbank Senior Center after retirement and enjoyed participating in many functions including singing in the senior choir which performed at many locations in the San Fernando Valley area to benefit those who are confined due to illness. He had many friends who always enjoyed his jokes and story telling.
