Fay Owen

Fay Owen, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away on September 12, 2024 in Santa Clarita, California. She was born on July 16, 1934, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, to Herman and Cora Guthrie. She married as a young teenager on June 25, 1950 to Ira Earl “Buck” Owen who was the love of her life. They shared their life raising 4 wonderful children and traveling the world together. She spent the later part of her life living in her beach house located in Oxnard, California which brought cherished memories with numerous family celebrations throughout the years. Fay was known throughout her life for her fun-loving spirit and kind heart.

Fay's career at Lockheed Martin showcased her dedication and skill, but her true legacy lies in the warmth and joy she brought to the lives of her family and friends. Described as adventurous, joyful, humorous, and generous, Fay was the life of the party whose welcoming nature made everyone feel at home. She enjoyed vibrant gatherings and cherished the time spent with her family, friends and neighbors and also enjoyed her unique group of girlfriends that called themselves "the mermaids".

In addition to her lively personality, Fay was deeply committed to giving back to her community. One of her proudest accomplishments was volunteering for many years with the Food Share organization, where she helped provide food and meals to those in need, embodying the generous spirit she was known for.

Fay leaves behind a loving family that includes her four children Sharon Hanson, Robert Owen, David Owen, and Dale Owen. She also leaves behind her beloved sister JoAnn Goff. She adored her seven grandchildren: Michael Rinehart, Melissa Bowman, Shawn Owen, Joshua Owen, Amber Follett, Ambrosia Owen, and Joey Owen. In addition, she took great pride in her seven great grandchildren: Michael Rinehart, Jr., Ryan Rinehart, Caleb Rinehart, Braden Bowman, Ellianna Bowman, Dalton Murillo, Adriana Owen, Eleanora Owen and Viviana Arreola-Follett, as well as her one great-great grandchild, Amelia Rinehart.

Fay is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Cora Guthrie, her husband, Ira Earl "Buck" Owen, her brother Donald Guthrie, and her sister Ruby Guthrie-Hiner.

Fay Owen's joyful spirit will be honored at a funeral service on October 12, 2024, at Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, California. The service will begin at 3:30 PM with a short graveside service. In lieu of flowers, we welcome loved ones to make a donation to their local food pantry in Fay's honor.  Fay's vibrant legacy will continue to live on through the love she shared with her family and friends. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
