“Allow the light and the healing presence of Christ to shine brightly through your lives. In that way, all those who come in contact with you will discover the loving kindness of God.”— St. Pope John Paul II
The 7th line and direct descendant of Don Felizardo Bautista Evangelista de-Rivera- "Fundador de Nueva Pila" (Founder of the town Pila, Laguna, Philippines).
Mr. Favio “Favs" Fernandez was born on July 31, 1940 in Pila, Laguna Philippines and passed away in the arms of his wife and daughter in the evening of May 1, 2025 in Chino Valley Hospital, California. He was preceded in death by his parents Mayor Santiago and Salvadora Santos Fernandez and siblings Fernando, Dr. Gil Fernandez, Santiago Jr. and Atty. Percival. His surviving siblings are Dr. Flora Fernandez, Norma Lota and Dr. Romeo Fernandez.
Favio is survived by his wife Nenita Mojica Caponpon (age 79); his children, Ferdinand and spouse Belen Santos (age 56), Fannie (age 54), Fritz (age 52) and Flordeliza (age 50) and spouse Philip Punzalan (age 45); and his grandchildren, Kenndrew (age 29), Krista (age 19), Liana (age 20) and Emma (age 13).
Favio had a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines and was employed as a Commercial Graphic artist at the Banahaw Broadcasting Co. for Channels RPN 9, 2 and 13. He was a member of the Jaycees and Rotary clubs in St. Anthony de Padua Parish Pila, Laguna and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Following the footsteps of his ancestors and father, and with goal to help his hometown and it's people, he entered politics at age 42 as the Barangay Councilor of Sta Clara Sur and also later served as Town Councillor and President of Tourism for Pila, Laguna, from 1986-1992.
During his retirement, Favio loved and always looked forward to having his children and especially his grandchildren, visit him in Los Angeles and travel with him. Favio was a very social person and greatly enjoyed spending time listening to music, singing karaoke, going to museums, watching war movies, and attending parties where he would have plenty of Filipino food, good drinks and lots of laughs with family and friends. He also loved just cruising down California highways with his son Fritz driving and spending quiet time at home under the loving care and company of his wife and savouring her delicious homecooked food. He always looked forward to calls and facetiming with his loved ones from the Philippines.
Everyone who remembers him, kindly say a prayer for the repose of his soul and celebrates Favs life in their own way. Favio will be missed by his family and friends but will forever be remembered in their hearts.
