On Thursday, February 4, 2021, Ezequiel Pinaya, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 81 surrounded by his children.
Ezequiel was born on March 10, 1939 in Quillacollo, Bolivia to Pascual and Leonor Pinaya. He moved to the United States over 50 years ago and worked in different states until settling down in Los Angeles, California.
Ezequiel valued hard work and helping others. Growing up in Bolivia, Ezequiel came from humble beginnings before immigrating to the United States and creating a successful business in real estate. He always said, "Stay in school and be somebody," because he knew education was the key to opening doors and opportunities. He also knew education was not just school, and he was always ready to provide his guidance on matters in which he was the expert- how to close a deal, or the advantages of buying a home versus renting. He encouraged everyone to make the most of themselves, whether he was telling us to travel the world before kids and marriage, inspiring us to work hard, focus on self-improvement and never be complacent, or being practical and reminding us to always say "I love you," even when upset.
Ezequiel measured his success not in what he had, but by what he was able to provide for those he loved. He did not work for praise or bragging rights, instead, he worked quietly, rewarded, and made proud by helping us in our successes. Ezequiel did things his own way and on his own time, motivated only by his drive for hard work and love for his family. He never complained and always prioritized others before himself, making him the sturdy foundation in any storm. In times of strife, he was a strong anchor. A true friend, he was there to celebrate in good times and support in bad times. He will continue to be our greatest blessing, the man we called Dad.
Ezequiel was preceded in death by his father, Pascual, and his mother, Leonor. He is survived by a wife, Leticia Pinaya, son, Eric Pinaya, daughter's Jacqueline and Nora Pinaya, step-sons Orlando Partida, Greyulv Daneguldberg, and Marc Cobos. He has 5 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
