Evaristo Magallanes Llamas, known affectionately as Tata or Abuelito, sadly passed away on January 2, 2024, in Long Beach, California. Born on October 30, 1923, in Tepechiclan, Zacatecas, Evaristo's life was marked by hard work, love for his family, and a vibrant personality.
Evaristo led a life dedicated to providing for his family. As a young man, he held various jobs to ensure his loved ones were well taken care of. It was at the StarKist Company in Long Beach where he spent the latter part of his career and eventually retired. Evaristo's commitment and perseverance serve as an inspiration to us all.
One of Evaristo's greatest joys in life was being surrounded by his family. He loved attending family gatherings and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Evaristo will undoubtedly remember his unique sense of humor. He had a knack for describing things in his own way that left everyone with a smile on their face. Even in his older years, Evaristo retained his feisty spirit and contagious laughter.
Beyond family and work, Evaristo had a few cherished hobbies and interests. He found great delight in watching Lucha Libre matches, cheering on his favorite wrestlers with enthusiasm. Evaristo also had a passion for home cooked meals, he often exclaimed with excitement, "Will there be papa (food)?" – a testament to his appreciation for good food.
In September 1998, Evaristo experienced the profound loss of his beloved spouse Josefa Rivera Llamas. Together they shared countless precious memories and built a strong foundation for their family.
Evaristo leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his sons Salvador Llamas, Ignacio Llamas, and Evaristo Llamas Jr., as well as his daughters Theresa Hernandez, Guadalupe Marin, Magdalena Lopez, Velia Llamas, Mariselva Kuaea, and Glenda Dominguez. His brother Bartolo Llamas, sister Refugio Llamas, 22 grand children and 32 great grand children.
To honor Evaristo's life and pay tribute to the legacy he leaves behind, a Funeral Service will be held on January 24, 2024. The service will take place at St. Cornelius Catholic Church located at 5500 East Wardlow Road in Long Beach, California. Family and friends are invited to gather starting at 10:30 AM.
Evaristo Magallanes Llamas will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His dedication to his family, infectious laughter, and zest for life will forever resonate in our hearts. As we bid farewell to Dad, Tata or Abuelito, let us remember him with love and gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives. May he rest in eternal peace.
