Evangeline "Vangie" Echiverri Vergara was born to the late Judge Juan Francesca Echiverri, Sr. and Adela Reantillo Echiverri in the Philippines on August 18, 1947. Vangie is the fifth child among the fourteen wonderful children. She passed away on January 15, 2022. She resided in Beaumont, CA at the time of her passing.
Evangeline, is survived by her husband, Rodolfo "Ogie", her kids and their families: Son Carlo Jovan, Princess Anne, Danica Kaelani, Caden Eli. Daughter Maria Catherine, Roden, Mackenzie Catherine and son Michael John and Joe; siblings: Edith, Ernesto, Leticia, Ferdinand, Marjorie, Marcos, Enrico, Emma, Grace, Renato, and Julyanne. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Juan, Jr., and George.
Evangeline was a very accomplished Registered Nurse and could very well be a modern day Florence Nightingale. She started her career in the Philippines as a med surgery nurse at Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital. She then became a Chief Nurse at Operations Bayanihan for an outreach government program in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija. After that, she worked at Philippine National Bank as a medical clinic nurse, where she met her husband Ogie. They married in 1976. In her desire to provide a brighter future for her family, Vangie moved to Libya to work as a med surgery nurse. After a few years abroad, they finally came to the US. She worked as a nurse in Cedar Sinai Hospital, where she retired in 2012. Evangeline's passion to help others is unparalleled that even during retirement, she continued to serve others in need as a visiting nurse, until the time of her passing.
Evangeline's life wasn't always about working. She was a dedicated wife, doting mother to her 3 children, loving grandmother and sister. She does not hesitate to lend a helping hand to others in need and does so willingly, with a smile. This is what Evangeline is known for; her smile does not extinguish even when times were hard. She had a strong faith in God and always had a positive attitude. Her time here on earth may have come to an end, but her life in heaven has just begun. So, in her honor, let's smile often and don't despair, for she is home.
