Evang Alvarez

September 12, 1927 — January 7, 2026

Evang Alvarez, born on September 12, 1927, in Cuba, passed away peacefully in the morning of January 7, 2026, at Happy Days Assisted Living in Sunland, California. He was a devoted family man and a hard worker, known to many for his dedication and commitment to his craft.

Evang dedicated many decades of his life to Pacific Airmotive Corporation (PAC) in Burbank, California, where he began his career as a production painter, applying his talents to paint jet engine parts. After spending several years refining his skills in this role, he transitioned to the maintenance department. Evang took immense pride in his work, overseeing the maintenance of the facility alongside five coworkers. His responsibilities included operating heavy equipment, as well as managing plumbing and electrical tasks—demonstrating his extraordinary versatility and industrious nature. Evang was truly the hardest working individual one could know, consistently eager to take on overtime whenever offered.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Evang cherished his family deeply. He loved his son, Eric, with whom he spent countless hours engaging in meaningful conversations. His daughter-in-law, Lorena, held a special place in his heart, considered by him as a daughter. The joys of his life were encapsulated in the laughter and love shared with his grandchildren, Matthew and Olivia, who were affectionately referred to as "Chuchi" and "La Chiquita." They were indeed his world.

In addition to his love for family, Evang possessed a generous spirit and a great sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. His culinary skills were renowned, particularly his delectable arroz con leche, which brought joy to family gatherings. A passion for nature also thrived within Evang; he had a special affinity for plants, especially fruit trees, dedicating time to learn the art of grafting different varieties.

Evang was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Alvarez and Maria Garcia, as well as his beloved wife, Gloria. He is survived by his son Eric, his daughter-in-law Lorena, and his grandchildren Matthew and Olivia, who will carry on his legacy of love and dedication.

Evang Alvarez will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his profound love for his family, and the laughter and warmth he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him.  In his final days, Evang came to know the Lord.  He acknowledged the eternal gift that is Jesus.  Praise the Lord!
