Eulogio Estoque Bongcaras, known affectionately as “Tatay EU”, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones at home in Cathedral City. He was 94 ½ years old. Eulogio was the youngest child of five to the late Juan Bongcaras and Agata Estoque.
He graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of San Carlos, Cebu City, Philippines. He worked for the Pantukan Municipality then to the Bureau of Customs provincial branch in Davao City. Eulogio was a respected member of the Pantukan community.
In 1955, Eulogio met Jovita Bompat at Bohol. They married and went on to have three children. Jovita passed away in 1963 due to complications of pregnancy. In 1964, Eulogio met Remedios Saludes, known affectionately as “Nanay Medy”.
He was fortunate enough to find a greener pasture in the United States in 1984. He fulfilled the dream of an immigrant to live the “American dream”. He retired from the County of Orange and moved to Cathedral City after retirement.
Tatay EU enjoyed listening to his favorite songs, singing karaoke, playing the piano, gardening, and watching Angel’s baseball and Laker’s basketball games. Though typically quiet in demeanor, a man of few words, he was known for his generosity, cheerful spirit, constant whistling of his favorite tunes, and contagious laughter and smile. He leaves behind a legacy full of love and cherished memories with his wife, Nanay Medy, his children: Julia, Rosemary, Fe Jocelyn, Eulogio, Jr., Eula Marie and Eunice Marie and 13 grandchildren: Erlynne, Ernest, Earl, Roselyn, Marie, Rowena, Eul, Kianoush, Ariana, Jaryd, Mia, Kurt, and Ambry. He also has four great-grandchildren: Emilia Robin, Emilia Rose, Starann, and Cora Remi.
