Eugenia "Jean" Edna Passaro passed away peacefully on June 6, 2013 in Palm Desert, California, where she resided for the last 12 years. Jean was born on May 18, 1930 to Violet and Emmet Coddington in Queens, New York and was the youngest of three girls, along with her sisters Cecilia and Violet. Jean attended John Adams High School in Queens, New York, where she met her high school sweetheart Charles "Charlie" Passaro. It was love at first sight and Jean and Charlie were married in 1950 in front of their many family members and friends in Queens, New York, where they started their life journey of nearly 63 years. In 1952 Jean and Charlie welcomed their first daughter Kathleen into the world and then blessed the family with the birth of their second born daughter, Patricia, in 1955. Jean and Charlie decided to raise their young family in Centerport, New York, a small, beautiful and serene community on Long Island where Jean's parents had the family summer beach house since the 1930's. Jean, Charlie and the girls continued to build family memories year round in Centerport. In 1971 Jean and Charlie moved to Seattle, when Charlie's career presented them the opportunity to explore a new adventure for the entire family and resided in the Seattle area until their move to Southern California in the early 1990's. Jean and Charlie's first part of their California dream was spent in Mission Viejo and then Palm Desert, where they enjoyed the beauty of the desert and many wonderful times. Jean was a devoted and loving wife and mother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Jean is survived by her husband Charles, her daughters Kathleen von Dehn (Jonathan Reiss) and Patricia Bishop (Michael Bishop) and her grandson, Cory Bishop.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Jean's life will be held on Tuesday June 18 at 9:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Palm Desert.
FOR EUGENIA
Eugenia is at peace, the family, the faith, the history, with her vast knowledge and love of all that is good, Jean is at peace.
Like a shining spirit and guiding light, like the mast of a tall ship and the wind that carries us through each day, Jean will still be leading us.
Jean is the center of the love you feel in your heart and the goodness that comes over you each day when remembering the love behind the shining blue eyes of Jean.
Faith and love as her foundation, Jean is truly at peace and she will be listening and watching for the peace on earth that she had intended for all of us.
Love,
Mike
