Eugene Robert Stojack

December 4, 1929 — January 25, 2018

Eugene Robert Stojack, age 88, died on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from complications of Alzheimer's disease in Renaissance Village, Moreno Valley, CA.

He grew up the oldest of four boys (Eugene, Lewis, James and John) in Chicago, Illinois to Polish immigrants, Stanley and Mary Stojack. After graduating from the University of Illinois in Engineering, he started his 40-year career at McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach CA. During his tenure at McDonnell Douglas he graduated with his Masters in Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.

It was in Long Beach that he met and married Arlene Catherine Goodman from Grundy Center, Iowa. Together they had four children, Kimberly Sweet (David), Lisa Stojack (Ron Young), Gene Jr. (Carrie) and Daniel Stojack raising them in Cypress CA. Gene was active in coaching his children's sports teams and playing golf.

After Arlene's passing in 1988, Gene doubled his parenting role to fill the void for his four children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, paying for all of his children and grandchildren's college education. He traveled the world, played senior slow-pitch softball on three different teams, loved an argument and had a penchant for Arby's roast beef sandwiches and Cheetos.

The family would like to thank the staff of Renaissance Village who helped Gene with his fight against Alzheimer's.

There will be a Vigil and Rosary on Wednesday, February 7 at 7 PM at the Church of Our Fathers, Forest Lawn Mortuary, 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress CA.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 8 at 8:30 AM at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, 5201 Evergreen Avenue, Cypress CA 90630. Reception to follow at Gene's home in Cypress.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gene's name to Alzheimer's Disease Research at the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org.
