It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene "Gene" Walter Hulsey, 80, of Long Beach, California. Gene peacefully departed this world to the arms of Jesus on June 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of joy, love, and inspiration.
Gene lived a life that was truly well-lived. He found his soulmate in Joan Hulsey, marrying her on October 12, 1992. Together, they cherished nearly 32 wonderful years of marriage, crafting a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. Their partnership was a testament to the power of love and commitment, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them.
As a devoted father to his children, Jason, Laura, Brian, and Danny, Gene took immense pride in his role as a parent. He was a source of strength and guidance, nurturing his family with unwavering love. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to eight grandchildren and a great-grandfather to four. The memories they created together will be treasured forever, reflecting the deep bonds of family that Gene held dear.
Born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Lytle Creek, Gene began his family in a place that would become a backdrop for countless cherished memories with Joan, family, and friends. His roots were deeply planted in the community, and he carried the values of love and togetherness throughout his life.
Gene had a long and distinguished career as an arbitrator, dedicating over 55 years to his profession. He worked tirelessly with the Teamsters Union and various other organizations, known for his hard work and commitment to resolving disputes. His dedication left a significant mark in his field, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.
A man of deep faith, Gene had a profound love for God and a genuine affection for people. He embraced life with joy, finding happiness in simple moments spent with family, fishing, golfing, and sharing stories. His warm spirit and compassion for others were evident in everything he did, making a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
While Gene's passing has left a tremendous void in the hearts of all who knew him, he also leaves behind an abundance of joy and cherished memories. His legacy will continue to inspire us to live fully, love deeply, and treasure the moments we share with our loved ones.
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to Honoring Our Fallen (www.honoringourfallen.org), reflecting his generous spirit and love for others.
