Eufemia D. De Guzman was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She joined our Creator on December 30, 2022 at the age of 76. Eufemia was born to Daniel and Esperanza de Guzman on June 21, 1946 in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines. Eufemia had a loving and lively childhood with her 9 siblings: Estrella, Evelyn (dec.), Ligaya, Alma (dec.), Luzvisminda, Julius (dec.), Marlon and Urduja.
Eufemia graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in the Philippines on May 16, 1966, following in her father's footsteps in becoming a teacher. Then for 20 years, she was instrumental in molding the minds of elementary, high school and college students.
Eufemia married her loving husband, Benigno de Guzman, on October 24, 1976 and together they were blessed with two children: Victor and Vida Sunshine; and three grandchildren Kailee Shannon, Isabella Sophia and Keilani Jordan. Eufemia and Benigno immigrated to the United States with their children in 1988 and pursued a new career as a licensed vocational nurse. Eufemia was a long-time employee for Ensign, and after 24 years, she retired in 2014. Eufemia enjoyed working with many people, caring for her patients, and creating friendships with her co-workers; some who she stayed connected with long after her retirement, becoming part of her family.
Eufemia loved singing, dancing, reading, and traveling with her siblings. But most of all, she loved spending time with her children and precious grandchildren. Eufemia also was a devout Catholic, raising her family with humble life values and committed to the church by participating in events, being a part of the choir, and teaching catechism. Eufemia's philosophy in life was "Live and Let Live" and she lived it every day.
Eufemia resided in Hacienda Heights, California at the time of her passing. A celebration of life is scheduled for February 3, 2023, followed by funeral services on February 4, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Ontario, California, followed by interment at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
