Estelita Miller

September 20, 1940 — February 22, 2026

We are saddened to announce the passing of Estelita “Ellie” Poblete Miller, at the age of 85. Ellie passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on February 22, 2026. She was a strong, loving, caring, and thoughtful, mother, Lola (grandmother), sister, daughter, and friend. She is survived by her loving family, including her sons Byron and Ivan, granddaughter Ava, and her sister Emma Ventura. Ellie was preceded in death by her sisters Linda and Vangie, her brothers Tony and Alby, her mother Sophia, and her father Vicente.

Ellie was born on September 20th, 1940 in Manila, Philippines, to Sophia and Vicente Poblete. Ellie was raised in Olongapo, Philippines. She was a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas College of Nursing in Manila, Philippines, and received her Masters of Nursing from UCLA in Los Angeles, CA.

In 1961, after completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Ellie moved to Western Canada to pursue her nursing residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Victoria, BC, and a year in Philadelphia, PA. Following her residency, Ellie moved to Los Angeles, CA where she had a very successful Nursing career at Kaiser Permanente and as a Home Health Nurse that spanned over 45 years. Her impact at Kaiser was profound as she hired and mentored several generations of nurses and medical leaders. Some of which are still currently in leadership roles.

Ellie raised 2 children: Byron and Ivan. Ellie was a hard-working and devoted parent. She was instrumental in the successes of her children's education, instilling the importance of family, friends, and community; and played an active role in their lives through her volunteerism as a board member and team mother at Silver Lake Park, and as the President of the PTA at St. Francis of Assisi School. Ellie was also a very proud and doting Lola to Ava.

Not only was Ellie extremely dedicated to her immediate family, but also to her surviving sister Emma, and all her nieces and nephews, to whom she was a loyal sister, auntie, friend, and confidante. Ellie was very devoted in her Catholic faith, a humanitarian, and ever so kind and supportive to many. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling the world, playing the piano, singing, gardening, and shopping. As a florist, Ellie loved making arrangements and decorating churches and venues for weddings, birthday parties, and making arrangements for her family and friends for every holiday. Ellie loved handwriting and mailing hundreds of holiday and birthday cards every year to family and friends. Her spirit will live on in those she leaves behind with memories of love, family, and service to her community including fellow church parishioners, friends, and colleagues from Kaiser Permanente.
