Ernesto Guinacaran Avenilla

Ernesto Guinacaran Avenilla, 81, of Cerritos, CA, entered eternal life with God on May 18, 2017.

A Visitation Vigil will be held on Wednesday evening, May 24, 2017 (5:00 – 9:00 PM) at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (main building).

A Mass of Catholic Christian burial will be held Thursday, May 25 (10:00 AM) at St. Cornelius Catholic Church (5500 E. Wardlow Road Long Beach, CA 90808) presided by Associate Pastor, Father George Reynolds. The Rite of Christian Burial will take place immediately following the conclusion of Mass at Forest Lawn Memorial Park - Cypress.

Ernesto was born in Baler, Quezon in the Philippines to Luis and Isidora Avenilla on January 21, 1936. He attended primary school at Baler Elementary School, graduated from Roosevelt High School in Quezon City, Manila, and entered the Philippine Air Force Services. He married Zenaida Regis on February 14, 1965 in Quezon City, and reared four children Louis, Elisabeth Joy, Frank, and Sheree Dawn. They immigrated to the United States in June 1972, settling in the Los Angeles area, where he pursued a 30-year career in the aerospace industry working with several military contractors and aerospace corporations. A devoted husband and father, Ernesto was also an active member of California-based association of Balerians. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, guitarist and enjoyed karaoke singing with family and friends.

Ernesto is preceded in death by his parents Luis and Isidora, and younger sibling Mario Avenilla.

Ernesto is survived by his wife of 52 years, Zenaida, children Louis, Elisabeth Joy, Frank and spouse Emaida "Mae", Sheree Dawn and spouse Robert Vasquez; siblings Leonida and spouse Ed Querijero, Lucy and spouse James Ventura; and grandchildren Julian & Seren Avenilla, Thomas & Amelia Nichols, and Cameron & Noelle Vasquez.
