Erlene M. Minton was born on April 1, 1928, in Denver, Colorado and grew up there. She moved to California in 1966 and settled in Rossmoor. She died Monday March 27, 2023, at her beloved home.

Erlene had a love for learning and was dedicated to public education by teaching the 4th grade for many years in the Los Alamitos School District, then Professional Development Specialist with Orange Unified helping teachers grow in their profession. Erlene continued her professional path, consulting throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, focusing her expertise on Professional Development and striving to make educators stronger and more productive in the classroom.  Her retirement years were augmented by a dedication to service organizations; Assistance League of Long Beach, with many years of service during which, she served as President 2003-2004. She was dedicated to Fine Arts at California State University Long Beach and known for her very successful annual fund-raising trips. Erlene was also very active in PEO and in her spare time a docent for “Little Theater” in Long Beach.

Erlene was 94, she missed her 95th birthday by 5 days. The wife of late husband Herbert D. Minton, mother of her late son, H. Douglass Minton II, and daughter of the late Earl & Celia Phipps.  

Erlene is survived by her loving daughters Deborah Gott (Ted), and Pamela McGill. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren: Eric (Becca) Gott, Tom (Carley) Gott, Bert Minton, Timothy Minton, Kaitlyn McGill and Kelly McGill. She had 4 great grandchildren: Jackson, Celia, Jeanette, and Jacob

Mass of the Resurrection will be offered April 26, 2023, at Saint Hedwig Catholic Church in Los Alamitos at 11am. Interment will be directly following mass at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress. The family will have a celebration of life at The Residence Inn Marriott Los Alamitos immediately following the services.
