Emma Lee Barit

Mrs. Lee B. Barit passed away peacefully at her longtime home at Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif. on Thursday, January 23, 2014. Lee B. Barit was born September 28, 1925, in the small town of Ennis in East Texas. Her family soon moved to a ranch near Corpus Christi, Texas where Lee would live until she left for college at The University of Texas. As an only child living on a ranch a long way from town, Lee developed a love for the outdoors that she maintained for the rest of her active adult life. Her interests included hunting, fishing, golf, tennis, cards, reading, and much traveling. She was always happiest when outdoors with her friends, involved in any event and she always fondly remembered the open ranch country of her native Texas. Lee also loved playing cards, she and her friend, Bert Kendall, were both members at the Thunderbird Country Club, and had many friends in a group of card players who played together for several years. The group was called The Thunderbird Gin Group. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Lucy Brinkerhoff; and her husband, Bob Barit. She is survived by her nephew, Dan Moody Jr.; her dear friend, Bert Kendall; also her beloved friend and caretaker, Sonya Gonzalez. A private service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cathedral City, Calif. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Donations may be made to any wildlife organization of choice.
