Emiliano Micu Jr.

April 12, 1954 — April 10, 2023

Dr. Emiliano G. Micu, Jr., lovingly known as "Leo," passed away on April 10, 2023, in Chino Hills, California, U.S.A., after a brave two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Leo was an inspiring and accomplished man, born on April 12, 1954, in Balungao, Pangasinan, Philippines, to Atty. Emiliano S. Micu and Juanita G. Micu. He was the eldest of his siblings, Levi and Lolit.

Although Leo aspired to become a priest, he realized that his calling lay elsewhere, leading him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from St. Louis University, a Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Cordilleras, and his Masters of Business Administration from St. Louis University. Leo utilized his academic background to work at First Peso Bank and Philam Life Insurance Company in Baguio City.

Leo was inspired by his mother, Juanita, who was a teacher and high school principal, to pursue teaching, earning his Doctorate in Philosophy from Saint Louis University in Baguio City. He then became a professor there for 17 years, specializing in Banking, Economics, Finance, Business, Management, and Marketing. Leo later became an Associate Trainer for World Financial Group from 2009-2011, winning numerous awards, including Top Recruiter and Most Valuable Player (2010).

He was first married to the late Myrna Mayo of Baguio City before reconnecting with his high school and college sweetheart, Irma T. Batang, an ICU Nurse at Kaiser Hospital. Irma and Leo were initially engaged in 1976 but their love was interrupted as life took them in different directions. When they were reunited, their love was sweeter, and they were married on April 8, 2008. For the past 15 years, they have enjoyed gardening, traveling, and becoming grandparents. Leo spent his life loving Irma until his passing.

Leo was a man of many interests and talents, including swimming, playing the guitar, talking and even sometimes arguing about politics, and bonding with his family, relatives, and friends. Leo's life and legacy will continue inspiring and uplifting those who knew him and will be dearly missed.
