Emerita Saldivar Pineda

November 5, 1946 — March 17, 2016

Emerita Babes Saldivar Pineda was a remarkable, generous, and loving mother, wife, relative, and friend. She was born on November 5, 1946, at St. Luke's Hospital in Manila, Philippines to Ramon Saldivar, US Navy Officer and Columba Jose Saldivar, owner of a successful dress shop. Emerita was the youngest of four children. Her sister Victoria and brothers Conrado and Raymond preceded her in death.
Emerita first attended Espiritu Santo Elementary School. She then graduated high school from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila. During her first two years of undergraduate studies, she enrolled in St. Joseph's College of Quezon City, and then transferred to Siena College to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics. While in college, she competed in a school-wide cooking contest, sponsored by Republic Flour Mills in which she proudly won second place.
In July of 1973, Emerita married the love of her life, Ricardo Pineda and had four wonderful children: Christine, Christian, Richard, and Ryan. In 1984, Emerita with her husband and children immigrated to Los Angeles. Emerita was soon employed at the Robinsons-May Credit Department and worked there full-time for nearly 20 years. She was extremely a hardworking and devoted mother, wife, and employee. In 2006, Emerita celebrated her 60th birthday with a huge celebration and official retirement.
Emerita was an active parishioner of Our Mother of Good Counsel Church (OMGC) in Los Feliz/L.A. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, an active member of the OMGC Fil-Am Ministry, and the Hermana and Hermano of 2011-2012 along with her husband, Ricardo for the Christmas Simbang Gabi. Emerita also committed her time and talents of cooking for the monthly feeding of the homeless with the OMGC Fil-Am Ministry and Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
During her spare time, she loved to get pedicures, shop at the mall, attend family and friends' parties, dance, travel, Pinterest, movies, and participate in all the church's functions including charity work. She dedicated time to read the Bible and other prayer books on a nightly basis. Emerita enjoyed cooking/baking and hosting at home for all her loved ones. She also liked watching Dancing with the Stars, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Family Feud, Access Hollywood, and the TFC channel, and of course, caring for her fun-loving English Bulldog, Peggy. Peggy misses her mommy so much.
Emerita is survived by her husband Ricardo, daughter Christine Repuyan, son-in-law Joe, and sons Christian, Richard, and Ryan Pineda, and the family dog, Peggy. She will be truly missed by many close family members, relatives, and friends.
