Elvira Palacios Cantu, age 96, of Indio, California, passed away in August 2026. Born in Concepcion, Texas, Elvira later made her home in Indio, where she lived for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro V. Cantu; her three sons, Pedro Cantu, David Cantu, and Richard Cantu; her grandson Joey Alonzo; and her great-grandson Alexander. She is survived by her three daughters, Yolanda Cantu, Irma Cantu, and Corina Garza; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elvira was a wonderful cook who delighted her family with many homemade dishes. She also loved to read and watch novelas.

A Visitation for Elvira will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Forest Lawn in Coachella, California. Visitation will begin at 08:30 a.m, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Coachella Valley Cemetery directly across the street from the mortuary.

Elvira’s warm spirit, loving heart, and the many joyful moments she shared will be deeply missed by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to her loved ones during this difficult time.
