Elvia Martinez passed away peacefully surrounded by her six children in Rancho Mirage, California, on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
She was born in July 1943 in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, Mexico to Santos and Dolores Zamarripa. Elvia was a long-time resident of Indio, California, since January 1972. She worked as a farm worker for 16 years, then in sales for an additional 12 years, before becoming a homemaker full-time.
She met the love of her life, Daniel Martinez, in 1959 and married him in July 1962, enjoying 58 years of marriage until his passing in 2020.
Elvia was a devoted wife to Daniel, and a nurturing, loving mother to her four sons and two daughters. She was the foundation in creating a loving home for all of them. Her passions included caring for her family with immense dedication, maintaining a very clean and tidy home, and cooking a large variety of savory meals. Elvia’s unwavering love for her family & friends, and her passion for creating delicious meals is what many will remember her by.
She is survived by her four sons Daniel (Annie), Mario (Zully), Dagoberto (Lupie), Julio(Alicia), two daughters Nydia and Norma (Hector), 30 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, her sister Maria Eloisa, and two brothers Jose Santos and David Enrique along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and her sister Lucila.
Her memory will live on and will be greatly missed by those who loved and adored Doña Elvia.

Elvia Martínez falleció pacíficamente, rodeada de sus seis hijos, en Rancho Mirage, California, el sábado 26 de abril de 2025.
Nació en Julio de 1943 en Montemorelos, Nuevo León, México, hija de Santos y Dolores Zamarripa. Elvia residió por un largo tiempo en Indio, California, desde 1972. Ella trabajó como trabajadora agrícola durante 16 años, luego en ventas durante 12 años más, antes de dedicarse por completo al hogar.
Conoció al amor de su vida, Daniel Martínez, en 1959 y se casó con él en julio de 1962, disfrutando de 58 años de matrimonio hasta su fallecimiento en 2020.
Elvia fue una esposa devota de Daniel y una madre cariñosa y protectora de sus cuatro hijos y dos hijas. Fue la base para crear un hogar lleno de amor para todos ellos.
