Elsie was born on February 3, 1941 in Las Placitas, New Mexico. Her parents relocated to Hurley, New Mexico where she was raised with her seven siblings. Elsie later relocated to Orange County, California where she raised her six children and lived in Anaheim, California at the time of her passing.
Elsie or Elsa as she was called by her siblings was small in stature only standing 4'11 but was a larger than life, especially her voice. Elsie had a very high-pitched voice that was easily recognized by everyone within ear shot and surrounding areas.
Elsie raised her children to be strong, independent, loyal, well-mannered and respectful. She encouraged her children to know the value of education, hard work and to succeed in life. She was a strong and fierce protector of her children, grandchildren and family. If you messed with her kids you had to deal with her, she was dynamite in a small package.
Elsie loved animals, growing up her children always had dogs, birds, cats and a turtle. And who could forget the infamous golf ball to the fish tank?
Elsie loved the holiday's especially Christmas, she loved to decorate and loved her flocked Christmas trees. She would meticulously wrap every gift making wonderful bows. One Christmas, she spent countless hours and made special wreaths for each one of her children.
She instilled in her children at a very early age a foundation of faith in God and to always rely on God's grace to pull them through the darkest of times. It is because of this faith, her children although they mourn the loss of her here on earth, they know she is in Heaven. There she is reunited with her sisters, Esther and Jenny, grandson, great-grandsons and her parents.
She loved each of her siblings as well as her many nieces and nephews, whom they affectionately referred to as Tia Elsie. She would greet them with the familiar "Hi Mija or Hi Mijo" whenever she saw them. Each of them having their own special relationship and fond memories of her.
Although Elsie would begin to be robbed of all the memories due to dementia, her smile and love would occasionally shine through her brown eyes. In the end, it was not dementia that would take her to Heaven but cancer. A battle she fought twice before only to lose the third time.
Elsie lived a full life, at times met with challenges, at times with grief and heartache but mostly one of happiness and love. In her final days, she was surrounded by her children who faithfully sat by her bedside around the clock showering her with love. She passed peacefully in her sleep with her children by her side.
Elsie/Mom would not want sorrow at her passing but happiness she has gone onto to her reward entering through the gates of Heaven whole again into the arms of her God and her family that has waited patiently for her.
She would not want tears of sorrow but of joy. Remember her with love and laughter she shared with each of you. Remember her for her devotion to her children, grand-children and family. Her spirit lives on in each of her children it is there you will find her, so she is never far.
Elsie is survived by her six children: Debra Jacoby (Robert), Terri Jaramillo, Rueben Davis, Audrey Reyes (Jr), Victoria Jaramillo and Gail Davis. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Her siblings: Sal Padilla (Cecilia), Josephine Cardenas (Louis), Fred Padilla, Anna Burnhardt, Vince Padilla (Sandra). She is preceded by: Grandson Michael A. Jaramillo, great-grandson's Jonathan R. Martinez and Victor R. Ramos. Sisters: Esther Miranda and Genevieve Cowan and parents: Vicente and Cornelia Padilla.
Mom
I still see your face before me
Your voice we long to hear
We miss you and love you dearly
God knows we wish you were here
Tears fall from our eyes
like a river of grief
Our only comfort now is that
From pain you have now found relief
Missing you
