Elsa Margaret Real, 67, born on August 14, 1951, in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico, she passed away June 13, 2019 surrounded by her family and close friends.
Elsa grew up in San Francisco in the 1950's. She told us stories of going to the movies for a quarter and buying a hamburger for a nickel. She had wonderful memories of that time. She worked for many years for National Fire Hose, where she made many friends.
Her talents were many, but her cooking was outstanding. She was often asked to cook her specialties. Some of her most popular dishes were Shrimp Cocktail, Meatloaf, Split Pea Soup, Menudo, Chicharron en Chile, Pozole and her many types of salads. She used recipes, but always added her special touch to everything.
Her love of music will always be remembered, she listened to many types of music. She enjoyed Juan Gabriel, Rocio Durcal, Ana Gabriel, but also loved the Beatles and the Motown sound. At parties she loved to dance, and if she saw you sitting, she would pull you on to the dance floor.
She loved her car, it enabled her to get up and go at the drop of a hat. She would say, "I'm going away for a few days". It could be Pasadena, Riverside, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Phoenix. Once it was Idaho! Always it was to see family and friends who were excited to see her and happy she was there.
Elsa's devotion to her family was always important to her. Whenever someone needed taking care of, she was there. Whether it was her mother, a sibling, aunt, cousin or friend. To her family always came first. She was a second mother to her younger siblings. She was a giving person you could always count on.
She is survived by her three sisters, Elizabeth (Humberto), Yolanda (Sergio) and Angelica (Bill) and three brothers Joe (April), Luis (Laura) and Francisco and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Carmen Oliva and Arnulfo Real and her brother Rafael.
Her light will be missed.
She resided in Bellflower, California at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
