Elmer Pascual Same, lovingly known to his family as Papa, passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 1, 1949, in Quezon City, Philippines, Elmer later made his home in Downey, California, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, sacrifice, and providing opportunities for the people he loved most.

Elmer was the beloved husband of Zenaida Same, devoted father of Yvonne DeMoss and Nolan Ross Samé-Weil, and proud grandfather of Dakota DeMoss and Magnolia DeMoss. His family was at the heart of the life he built and the choices he made throughout his years.

Professionally, Elmer dedicated his career to the fields of electronics, engineering, and computers. His technical ability was matched by a tremendous work ethic, but his career represented much more than professional accomplishment. For Elmer, working hard was one of the ways he expressed his love and commitment to his family.

Throughout their life together, Elmer worked to ensure that Zenaida had the opportunity and support to pursue her own career while their children could concentrate on their education and prepare for their futures without the burden of financial worry. He took great pride in providing stability for his family and creating opportunities for those he loved to pursue their own goals and dreams.

Much of Elmer's legacy can be found in those quiet acts of devotion; the long hours worked, the sacrifices made without seeking recognition, and the security he provided so his family could move forward with confidence. Through his actions, Papa taught his family the meaning of responsibility, perseverance, sacrifice, and taking care of one another.

And while Elmer knew the importance of working hard, he also knew how to appreciate the things in life that brought him happiness. He had a special love for Hawaii, the beach, and all things tropical. The beauty and warmth of the islands held a special place in his heart, becoming something his family naturally came to associate with Papa.

Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Zenaida Same; his daughter, Yvonne DeMoss, and son-in-law Jeremy DeMoss; his son, Nolan Ross Samé-Weil, and son-in-law Bryan Weil; his beloved grandchildren, Dakota DeMoss and Magnolia DeMoss; his brothers, Joel Same and Jason Same; and his stepmother, Rachel Same. He also leaves behind extended family, friends, and loved ones who will continue to carry his memory with them.

Elmer was preceded in death by his father, Eliezer Same; his mother, Elisea Same; and his sister, Eloisa Wendy Same.

Although his passing leaves an immeasurable absence, Papa's story continues through the family he loved and worked so hard to support. His legacy lives in the opportunities he helped create, the lessons he passed down, the accomplishments of his children, the lives of his grandchildren, and the countless memories his family will carry forward.

As family and friends gather to say goodbye, they will do so in a way that reflects something Papa loved so dearly with the warmth, comfort, and spirit of the islands.
