Ellen Alice Williams, nee Titone, was born on November 27, 1926, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and passed away on May 3, 2019, at the age of 92. The daughter of European immigrants, Victor Titone and Elena Marie Matteau, she was raised in Montrose, California. During the Great Depression, Ellen and her brothers moved with their parents to France and attended school there for approximately two years. Victor, an Italian immigrant, and Ellen's brothers (Michael and Phillip) all served honorably in the United States Armed Forces. Phillip passed away in 1961 at the age of 39. Ellen is survived by her beloved brother, Michael, 95, and his wife, Nina.
Ellen survived her husband, Lloyd Williams, with whom she had two children, Ronald and Victoria ("Ron" and "Vicki"). The Williams' raised their children in Glendale, California, and remained there throughout their lives. Lloyd, a World War II veteran, worked for the city of Glendale. While raising their children, Ellen worked multiple part-time jobs and, always a lover of learning, attended night school at Glendale Community College.
Ellen also survived both of her children by many years. Her son, Ron, served in the United States Army before joining the FBI as a Special Agent. Ron was killed in the line of duty in 1975 when he was murdered on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Her daughter Vicki, a writer, succumbed to an illness several years ago.
She remained a strong supporter of the military throughout her life, and befriended many of the FBI agents and employees who shared her grief following the murder of her son, Ron. She had a heightened sense of justice and continued to be a staunch advocate for Ron long after his death.
Ellen was known to her friends as extremely charming despite the tragedy she endured throughout her life. She was equal parts intelligent, honest, witty and resilient. She was also affectionately known as stubborn when she knew what she wanted. Regularly described as being "sharp as a tack" - even in her early nineties - Ellen had a wonderful memory and knack for telling stories. She also derived great comfort from animals and raised several throughout her life.
Ellen endured great personal loss but bore it with quiet dignity. She continued to share stories of her children - whom she cherished above all things - long after their untimely deaths. She remained a wonderful companion to the many friends she left behind. The absence of her charismatic personality will leave an irreplaceable void in their hearts.
Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.
