Elizabeth M. Givan, beloved sister, dedicated public servant, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at the age of 67.
Born on March 8, 1959, Elizabeth lived a life defined by service, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her community. She valued education and personal growth, earning a master’s degree in criminal justice, which helped shape her distinguished career in public service.
For 32 years, Elizabeth served with dedication as a Los Angeles County Probation Officer. Throughout her career, she worked tirelessly to guide, support, and mentor countless individuals, leaving a lasting impact on both her colleagues and those whose lives she touched. Her strong sense of duty, professionalism, and genuine concern for others earned her the respect and admiration of all who knew and worked alongside her.
Elizabeth was known for her strength, wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She carried herself with dignity and grace and was deeply respected by friends, family, and colleagues alike.
She was preceded in death by her beloved fiancé, Melvin Jones; her mother, Hattie Givan; her father, James Givan Sr.; her brother, James (Ruby) Givan Jr.; and her sister, Hazel Alley.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory her loving siblings: Alicia (Dwight) Sutton, Tyrone (Lawana) Givan, Manuel Givan, and Reginald Givan. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and former colleagues who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Elizabeth’s legacy of service, resilience, and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of those she loved and who loved her in return.
