Eleanor Reid

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the life of Eleanor J. Reid, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully at the age of 91.

Born in Anderson, Indiana, Eleanor graduated as a registered nurse from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1955. She married Bill Mathews the day after graduation, raising four children before returning to her nursing career in 1975, where she served first as a floor nurse, then in Kidney Dialysis, Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry.

In 1982, Eleanor married Don Reid, and together they shared 39 beautiful years, including a decade in Powell River, British Columbia. A devoted follower of Christ since age ten, Eleanor loved the church, prayer, and leading small groups.

She is survived by her children Valerie (Sean), Corey, Marie, Blair (Cherie), stepdaughter Jo Anne, grandchildren Tara, Courtney, Eric, Gizelle, Joshua, Cade, Kaya, and great-grandchildren Caleb, Aubrey, and Kaylee. She was preceded in death by her husband Don, sons-in-law Chad Siva and Lon Allison, and grandson Skyler Siva.

Eleanor will be remembered for her quiet elegance, kindness, and the love she shared so freely.

A memorial service will be held in Sun City, Lakeview Clubhouse, 36592 Del Webb Blvd, Palm Desert, Saturday, September 27, 2025, 4:30 PM. Eleanor will be laid to reset at Forest Lawn, Cathedral City.
