Eleanor P. (Snow) Peabody, age 87, beloved mother and friend to all she touched, passed away peacefully at Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Malden, MA on February 28, 1927 the daughter of the late Wallace I. and E. Louise (Main) Snow. She was raised and educated in Melrose, MA and graduated from Melrose High School class of 1945. She had attended the Burdett Business School in Boston, MA.

After completing business school in 1947 Eleanor began her career with several companies in the local area as a book keeper. Those companies included John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance, Wallace Card Insurance Agency, Western Electric and the Joseph Hills Insurance Agency. Her last position was as the Tax Collector for the Town of Plaistow, NH from 1984 until her retirement in 1994.

Eleanor was a very active and civic minded person. She was active with the Plaistow, NH Municipal Budget Committee from 1968-1986, the Sounding Board, the Planning Board, Voter Registration, the Cemetery Advisory Committee and the Plaistow Historical Society. She was also active with the Plaistow Fish and Game Ladies Auxiliary and the Pythian Sisters from 1980 until the present. She served as Grand Chief State Officer.

She was active for many years with the First Baptist Church in Plaistow, NH since 1949. She gave many years of faithful and dedicated service to the following; Triangle Guild, Sunday School Teaching, Ladies Social Circle, Board of Trustees, Pulpit Committee, Finance Committee and the Board of Deacons.

Eleanor loved gardening and was an avid Boston Sports fan. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing her love and wisdom with all those whom she loved.

She is survived by her loving family, son, Allan H. Wheeler and wife, Leslie J. Wheeler of Plaistow, NH, step-son, George A. Peabody and wife, Bonnie Lee Peabody of Plaistow, NH, step-son, David R. Peabody and wife, Mary A. Peabody of Plaistow, NH, step-son, Jeffrey E. Peabody and wife, Sandie Peabody of Plaistow, NH. 10 grand children, 16 great-grand children, sister, Lillian S. Edmunds of Coutuit, MA and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her loving husbands, George B. Peabody, Harold L. Wheeler and Ralph Sargent, brothers, Wallace I. Snow Jr., Norman R. Snow and Lawrence A. Snow.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 121A), Plaistow, NH 03865. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, 122 Main Street in Plaistow. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Plaistow.
