Elba Dora Urgelles

Elba Dora Urgelles, 83, born on September 10, 1931, in Guantanamo, Cuba, passed away at home on May 28, 2015. She resided in Long Beach, California at the time of her passing.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, 2 PM, at the Memorial Chapel, Forest Lawn, Long Beach.

Elba is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rafael (Ucho) J. Urgelles, daughter, Elba M. Hernandez (John), Texas; son, Rafael E. Urgelles, California; sister, Norma Sanchez, Puerto Rico; and 6 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Eduardo and Maria Amaral; her sisters Olga Ferrer and Berta Gonzalez; and her brothers Dr Arturo Amaral and Dr Eduardo Amaral.

Although Elba was an art teacher in Cuba, after moving to California, she worked for Robertshaw assembling thermostats. She retired from Robertshaw after 30 years of employment.

A loving wife and mother, fun-loving, friendly woman, a great cook with a beautiful soul will be missed by all who knew her.
