Elaine Winer

Elaine and her twin sister, Marsha, were born November 10, 1929, to Jean (Napsky) and Sam Wagner in Chicago, IL. The girls went to Penn Elementary School. They graduated from Marshall High School in 1947. They were voted "Class Twins". Elaine met her future husband, Myron S. (Mike) Winer in South Haven, Mich. They were each vacationing with friends. The year was 1947. They reacquainted a year later at a social. The romance began. They married July 30, 1950. Elaine was a clerk in the Surgery Department at the University of Illinois in Chicago while Mike attended Dental School. In 1953, they moved to Waco, TX., while Mike was in the Air Force. Their first daughter, Ronna Arlene, was born that same year. After his service they moved back to Chicago. In 1957, that's when their second daughter, Karen Alyce, was born. Elaine became involved in volunteering at Skokie Valley Hospital for 26 years. In 2000, Mike and Elaine moved to Palm Desert, Calif. Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Mike, of 66 years, daughters Ronna (Dennis) Robbins, Karen (Jeffrey) Goudie, grandchildren Erika, and Scott (Dr. Rachel Kraft) Robbins, Jordan, Matthew, and Dana Goudie. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, sister Rae (Al) Sacks, twin, Marsha (Dr. Arthur) Shaver. The family will always remember the outstanding care that was given in the final stage of her journey by Serenity Hospice, and, most of all, by Zenaida and Blanca Ochoa. A private Cryptside service was held at Forest Lawn.
