Seabrook,NH: Elaine A. (Sampson) Duhamel, 80, died Saturday morning, February 27, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at Exeter Hospital, following a long illness.
Born, raised and educated in Everett, MA, daughter of the late Joseph and Albena (Kiela) Sampson, she graduated in 1953 from Everett High School, where she was a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad. She attended Malden Business School and first worked for the Boston Typing Pool.
A resident of Burlington, MA from 1960 until 2013, she enjoyed being a housewife and homemaker for her husband and four sons. She enjoyed cooking, cake decorating and baking for her family. Fluent in sign language and an avid card player, she also enjoyed the quiet times sitting with her husband on the porch swing at the beach.
A longtime summer resident of Seabrook Beach, where Mrs. Duhamel first met her husband Barry, she was an accomplished swimmer. In 2013 she became a year round resident of Seabrook Beach.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-seven years, Charles "Barry" Duhamel in December of 2014 and is survived by four sons, Glenn Duhamel and his wife June of Woburn, MA, Scott Duhamel and his girlfriend Karen French of Seabrook, Jeffrey Duhamel and his wife Cynthia of Plaistow, and John Duhamel and his wife Judith of Hampton, grandchildren, Kristen, Jacqueline, Matthew, Thomas, Danielle, Kayla and Sara Duhamel.
Relatives and friends are invite to call on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main ST., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Wednesday, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Augustine's Church, Essex St., Andover, MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover. The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Parkinson's Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, 1 Medical Center DR, Lebanon, NH.
