Hampstead, NH:  Edward S. Viles, 84, of Hampstead, son of the late Raymond S. and Lucy L. (Peabody) Viles, died June 10, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House following a brief illness.

Born in Peabody, he resided in Peabody and Danvers for over thirty years before moving to Hampstead in 1959.

He was a member of the Danvers High School class of 1946 and served thirty-two years as an employee with the Department of Defense at the Chelsea Naval Hospital and Pease Air Force Base, retiring in 1985.  Serving as a multilith print operator during his tenure, he handled several printing jobs including projects for the NASA lunar missions and producing lists of POWs during the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam War.

A member of the Cochichewick Lodge in Andover, he was a 32nd degree mason where he served in many capacities.  He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Boston Consistory and Bodies of Lowell, Valley of Merrimack as well as a member of the Bektash Temple of Concord.  He enjoyed attending the many Shriner's functions and parades where he helped maintain and operate the calliope unit.  He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed boating.

He was pre-deceased by one brother, Raymond G. Viles.  Surviving him are two sisters, Mrs. Phyllis L. Mitchell of Danvers, MA and Mrs. Sandra E. Krajewski and her husband Thomas of Newton, NH, one sister-in-law Eva Viles of Deerfield, NH, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH.  A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home, with Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody, MA.  To send online condolences please visit our website at www.brooksidechapelfh.com.
