In his high school years, he was very athletic and lettered in baseball and track. Outside of school, he skated competitively in roller-skate speed racing and couples dance with his sweetheart Carol, who would later would become his wife.
After high school, he joined the Army where he was assigned to the Army Security Agency where he held a Top Secret security clearance. Rumor has it that Sgt Miller used it to spy on Russians from his post in Alaska; he would not confirm or deny if asked about it.
After the Army he married Carol. Soon after, they moved out west to California to join his brother, sister and parents in the Los Angeles area. There, they started a family. Carol bore three sons - Dan, David, and Doug, often referred to as the 3D's. He made a career in banking and finance until his retirement in 1999.
Ed pursued happiness in many ways. He married three times, but always maintained a congenial friendship with all. He parted ways with Carol after twenty years. Shortly after, married Lynn, who brought her daughter, Shauna, into the family. Shauna was the source of great joy for him. Ed & Lynn were married for 13 years and then went their separate ways. A few years after separating from Lynn, Carol introduced her friend Elin to Ed. Ed and Elin were soon married. They were together until her passing last year ( 2021 ) and enjoyed 26 years of blissful marriage.
Ed enjoyed working on home landscaping projects, fishing, boating and beer â not necessarily in that order. He had the gift of gab, and was the consummate BS'er.
