Edward Martin III

Edward Martin III, 84, born on September 04, 1939, in Gadsden, AL, United States, to Edward and Frances Martin.  He passed away October 31, 2023. He resided in West Covina, CA at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, CA.

Edward received his formal education in the public school system in Greensboro, NC. He played basketball and finished college at the University of Connecticut.  He received a Master Degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.  He worked as a life insurance sales agent.

Edward met and married Beatrice Harris in 1961, who he fondly called “sweetheart”. They had three wonderful children named Renee, Chris, Erik, and six grandchildren Rachelle, CJ, Cameron, Eleyna, Amiyah, and Erika.

Edward accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He served in the church,sang in the choir, mentored several young men and led bible studies.  He read and discussed bible verses daily with his three children as they were growing up.  

He encouraged his children to complete college education and to have a strong work ethic.   He volunteered as a youth  basketball coach.

Edward’s favorite singing group was the “Temptations”.  He loved watching the movie, listening and singing the songs, clapping his hands and stomping his feet to the music. 

He was a friendly, hopeful, loving, gentle person, who was respected and loved by those who knew him.   

Edward J. Martin III passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023 at 2:39PM at the Whitten Heights Memory Care Facility in La Habra, California. 

Edward is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, other family members and friends including Dennis Almond Jr., Christal Martin,  Anita Martin, Angela Stewart, Pamela McFadden, Dionna Pegs, Marnie Kent, Kingsley Wokoma, Verna Martin, Reggie Martin and Jonathan Martin.
